Charleston, South CarolinaCharleston, South Carolina is one of my very favorite cities in the U.S. Charleston has the second largest number of destination weddings in the country numbering over 12,000 following only Las Vegas. So every chance I get, I go to Charleston. This past weekend I was asked to come to Charleston to photograph Aly and her wedding and work with the wonderful designer and visionary Julie Murphy.
This very historic town is filled with wonderful architecture; a rich Southern heritage; a town that survived two invasion - the British Army and the Federal Army during the Civil War; and extremely pleasant people to work with. Aly's portraits were created around Charleston's famous Rainbow Row and Broad Street. I chose those areas because of their outstanding architecture and color that only Charleston can boast. Her gorgeous gown was designed by the Austrialian designer Leonard Derecourt. As you will see the photographs this French Haute Couture designer has a different flair for detailing in the bodice and lace work. Very remarkable work. And with the gown in mind and Aly's wish to be in theatre or modeling, I photographed her more from a fashion portrait.
So enjoy the photographs, let me know what you think, and the wedding images will come later.
Ciao,
David Wright
