Bertha & Luis' reception at the Factory at Franklin was just as fabulous and romantic as their wedding, and the Mexican traditions of the reception were just as interesting and colorful if not more so.
Music flowed constantly while two bands performed. The first dance was joined by the parents as the moms danced with the groom and the dads danced with the bride. Then and slowly each couple from the wedding party approached the reception floor and the groomsman danced with the bride while the bridesmaid with the groom. What a beautiful and heartfelt expericence.
The bouquet toss followed by the garter toss had many American similarities but also had a lot of Spainish influences and features. When the girls lined up to catch the flowers, they quickly ran through the whole reception single file while holding onto the person in front. Then they ran circles around the bride standing on her chair while her new husband, Luis, held the veil a dozen feet away forming an arch for them to run under.
Next came the guys and they did the same thing, running full speed throughout the reception floor, in and between the seated guests and then onto the arch as they too ran circles around the groom. Once the boquet and garter had been thrown, the crowd picked up Luis and then Bertha as they tossed them into the air! What a sight to see and be part of and I am so thankful to have been a part of this most beautiful and romantic wedding.
David
