The wedding was on October 10, 2009 at Hillsboro Presbyterian Church in Nashville, Tennessee and the reception was beautifully presented by Alice Hendry, wedding planner, who transformed The Hermitage Hotel into a wonderfully decorated showplace.

Mollie and Jon's wedding was a dream come true in every sense of the word. They were wonderful and their friends and families were all so delightful. Mollie & Jon's friends were the wedding party and were a complete joy to photograph and work with!

Scarritt-Bennett, Maggiano's, Parthenon wedding for Martha Blair & Justin

Now that you have seen Martha Blair's wonderful bridal portraits, its time to peek at her and Justin's fabulous wedding last week! Angela Proffitt, Martha Blair's wedding planner, had everyone ready to go to meet Scarritt-Bennett's time line and flow. Wow what a day we all had at their gorgeous wedding. It was a beautiful ceremony and Scarritt's Wightman Chapel was beautifully adorned with flowers and fruit by Chase Rivers Flair.

Maggiano's Little Italy Restaurant is not only a great restaurant but it makes for an intimate and romantic wedding reception. After a bubble departure Justin and Martha Blair met us at The Parthenon in their Matchless Limo's impeccable Vintage Bentley for some additional photographs of just the 2 of them, the rare Bentley, and the Parthenon! We created way too many to show here so just enjoy the thumbnail overview of a terrific wedding captured in a classic and photojournalism manner!

Awesome bridal portrairt of Martha Blair!

Martha Blair's wedding was last Saturday at Scarritt-Bennett's Wightman Chapel and a couple of weeks ago I created some stunning portraits of her dressed in her beautiful wedding gown. Next blog will be Martha Blair & Justin from their awesome wedding!!!!

Not all brides elect to have their portraits created prior to the wedding day. And most regions outside the South do not take the advantage of creating bridal portraits. Almost all the brides I have created bridal portraits for have been very thankful for not only the experience and the opportunity to get all dress up plus adorn the dress for one more occasion than just the day of the wedding. They are offered the rare treat of seeing themselves complete with their gorgeous gowns, hair, makeup, shoes, and bouquets. Each becomes a mini trial and test of performance and appearance before the big day. And yes, I have had most brides change something after seeing their portraits. Most changes have been minor such as retouching the hair or makeup and maybe even the bouquet. Others found issues with their recently fitted gowns that need more attention or a major change in the fitting of the gown or other clothing. I even had one bride years ago to change gowns completely after seeing herself in that large ballroom, antebellum look she thought see wanted!

Gowns are also a statement of the personality of its wearer. Martha Blair's gown is adorned with beautifully created bead-work, all hand done, and a streamline look for the skirt and train of her gown. Her gown is gorgeous, elegant, classic with an artistic flair and one that perfectly fits her tastes and appearance. She was wonderful to photograph and wanted a variety of looks beyond the traditional, more classic and artful.

We are going to have such a grand time at Martha Blair's wedding Saturday and look forward to working with Angela Proffitt of Elegant Weddings by Angela once again!

Scarritt Bennett is the Place for Weddings in Nashville

Last week, actually on the 10th of July, Kristen and Wes, you saw their engagement portraits on here at Cheekwood's Botanical Garden and Museum of Art in the Cheekwood's Chiluly exhibit, were married at Scarritt-Bennett's Wightman Chapel. Scarritt is a phenomenal location for weddings, perhaps Nashville's number one wedding venue! Well, Wes and Kristen took it one step further and had their wedding reception at Scarritt's Susie Gray Dinning Hall. What a beautiful venue that more people should take advantage of with the only drawback being no alcohol is allowed.

I cannot think of two finer families than those Kristen and Wes, such wonderful people and great to work with. Wes and Kristen were so open to having their photographs created in an artistic manner and had a blast creating them! Do enjoy these photographs from their awesome and fun wedding. I might add Elaine McCord Floral Designs  with and Jimm Wright of Jimm Wright Designs provided the bouquets and flowers for the wedding and reception.

Los Cabos Mexico wedding Parte Dos

You have to see the photographs from Ashley & Taylor's wedding in Los Cabos, Mexico. Earlier I posted the reception photographs from their event at Edith's Restuarant  in Cabo San Lucas and next will be the day after the wedding photographs we did in San Jose Del Cabos.

This was a stunning wedding and the very close families made us all feel as if we were part of the their families. Ashley & Taylor looked and posed as if they were models, and we all had a wonderful time creating these amazing shots. I will add Gabriela Cobian, on site wedding specialist, at Hilton Los Cabos Beach & Golf Resort greatly assisted the wedding party, their families, my staff and I. Gracias Senorita Gabriela!!!

Ashley's absolutely wonderful gown is a Priscilla of Boston from The Bride Room in Nashville.

Look who's getting married tomorrow!

Tomorrow is going to be a great day! Kristen and Wes are getting married at Scarritt - Bennett's Wightman Chapel. This is going to be a great wedding with a lovely couple that is so romantic and fun to photograph. Below are some portraits I created of Kristen & Wes at Cheekwood Botanical Gardens during the Dale Chihuly glass sculpture show at Cheekwood.

When photographing couples or families, clothing is so important and brings continuity to the whole photograph. Coordinating colors and textures is crucial in achieving a harmonious feeling that flows and reinforces the people in the portrait but not overpower them. The colors should be soothing and only add to the impact of a successful image. Look at how their clothing is secondary while their faces are the primary subject and yet the clothing brings continuity to the whole feel of the portrait. In this case with Wes and Kristen, we discussed colors beforehand and when they arrived to Cheekwood, we chose the outfits and colors to coordinate with each garden of Chihuly's unique sculpture. Look at how each view of Kristen and Wes blend and harmonize with their surroundings and how Chihuly's glass sculpture adds a very nice look to their once in a lifetime opportunity portraits here with this famous glass works of art. Now you see why it is so important in having a skilled and trained eye to create your portraits.

Oh, one last comment, there is a saying that a pot of gold can be found at the end of a rainbow. Well look at the last photograph and you will see that pot of gold! Yes the fable is true!!!!
